I am sorry to say that this year, the Madison "Blues" Picnic at Warner Park was very un-bluesy. The Blues Kids led by Oscar Wilson and Joe Nosek are always cute as they are year after year but for an event put on by a blues society, this one was a clunker. Only two acts even sounded like blues,of course the always present Cashbox Kings and most of West Side Andy's set with Barrelhouse Chuck hit the spot but the rest of it wasn't blues and didn't belong at an event with blues in the title. Not sure who choses the bands but this year was a real bummer.

Blues PicnicSat, Jun 18th, 2011Warner Park Madison, WI The Madison Blues Society is holding its Annual Blues Picnic at Warner Park. You can enter at 2930 North Sherman Avenue or at 1625 Northport Drive. Head on back behind the parking lot to the shelter with the big colored drums and you'll find a lot of fun! This great event continues to be FREE! Everyone from the community and beyond can come and enjoy a fantastic day of music, food, drink, beer and fun in the sun! We've got another great lineup of music and there's plenty of room for dancing. If just hanging out is your style, there's also lots of room for blankets and chairs with shade under the trees. We'll have a variety of traditional and ethnic food vendors to give you lots of options for great eat and drink. And Capital Brewery will be back with their fine brews.
