Fall Festival Of FolklifeSat, Oct 2nd, 2010 to Sun, Oct 3rd, 201013560 Jefferson Avenue Newport News, VA The Newport News Fall Festival of Folklife will be held on October 2 & 3, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily at Newport News Park. The festival, which attracts 70,000 visitors each year, will feature over 240 exhibitors showcasing traditional crafts, heritage trade demonstrations, and country cooking. The Lake Stage will feature Bluegrass, Country, and Folk Music; the Heritage Dance S tage will feature Panamanian Folk Dance, Native American Dance, African Dance, and Clogging; and the Children's Stage will feature Rhythms Round the World, Vaudeville, and music by a “Gourd Orchestra.” New entertainment for this year's festival includes Kari Smith (Country), Rt. 58 (Bluegrass), Masters of the Chainsaw (Chainsaw Art), and the Richmond Indigenous Gourd Orchestra (Original Music on Gourd Instruments ).
