Tejano Conjunto Festival En San AntonioFri, May 13th, 2011 to Sun, May 15th, 2011Rosedale Park San Antonio, TX First held in 1982, the annual Tejano Conjunto Festival is a celebration of conjunto music. The style evolved in Texas and northern Mexico in the late 1800s and is a fusion of traditional Spanish guitar with the button accordion which was introduced to the region by German settlers. The festival includes a great line-up of bands ranging from traditional practitioners of the genre to modern day interpreters which give the style a bit of a twist. The event attracts over 30,000 fans each year and offers visitors a great introduction to this style of music and entertainment.
